Johan started his musical journey on his parent’s piano at the age of ten. No one told him to do it. The sounds he created on the keyboard resonated with him forming a bond between him and the instrument. It has lasted a lifetime.
Self-taught, Johan was driven by a desire to explore the world created by this connection. Along the way, he experimented with R&B, new wave, modern jazz, ambient music, and other music styles. He also fed a youthful creative appetite by setting up a new wave band (High IQ) in his home town Dendermonde, Belgium, and a jazz band (Faces at 9 G) in Wageningen, Netherlands.
His playing style is distinct. His music can be harmonic, relaxing, and calming. But Johan also moves in experimental, surprising directions, creating subtle tensions for the listener, who feels the satisfaction when the tension is finally resolved.
Recently, Johan took another step in his musical journey by acquiring a beautiful grand piano; one which tone resonated with him again. At the age of 60, he felt that others would enjoy his music, so he started recording in the living room of his home.
His current songs are unique pieces of improvisation. Some Albums contain jazzy or exotic chord scheme improvisations, other Albums consist of Soundscapes and aim to create a relaxing atmosphere with reverberations that help you slowdown from your daily routines.
