Jonny Boston

Jonny excelled in music at Christ&#39;s Hospital school in England. He debuted aged 15 with Bahrain Jazz Quartet in the Middle East. Cornetist Phil Mason spotted him busking on the London Underground, which led to 2 years of European tours with <a href="spotify:artist:3ZmMlnk49ar6765kHbcztH" data-name="Max Collie&#39;s Rhythm Aces">Max Collie&#39;s Rhythm Aces</a> aged 18.
A Graduate Diploma in Jazz &amp; Contemporary Music with Honours followed at Leeds College of Music. He won the Yorkshire TV Young Jazz Player of the Year award - judged by <a href="spotify:artist:5IZvXM7XkysHxK1PAlsa8Y" data-name="John Dankworth">John Dankworth</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:22La2Rm0bDntXkMXGhNQgU" data-name="Chris Barber">Chris Barber</a>.

Returned to London in 1998 where he performed with <a href="spotify:artist:4OhduBCIJSvEut3VhXnHBy" data-name="Phil Mason&#39;s New Orleans All-Stars">Phil Mason&#39;s New Orleans All-Stars</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7LJwzdopOXQqJvG5VTMQaw" data-name="The Pasadena Roof Orchestra">The Pasadena Roof Orchestra</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3Q8kn9NHhSYeyParSXCmtJ" data-name="King Pleasure &amp; The Biscuit Boys">King Pleasure &amp; The Biscuit Boys</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6nB5cpTaZW1zjxg8XBTxSr" data-name="Gingerpig">Gingerpig</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:525yquKUoWmVGWdpfVF8I8" data-name="T.J. In 2008 he moved to The Netherlands performing with several bands including new orleans style traditional jazz band The Revivalists as well as established jazz artists such as <a href="spotify:artist:20CJXc0pUJZ6GPxhnWADMs" data-name="Bert Boeren">Bert Boeren</a> &amp; <a href="spotify:artist:7CazEWlBnDe7sytG8r9bZT" data-name="The Ramblers">The Ramblers</a>.

In 2011 he formed the jazz gospel group <a href="spotify:artist:6ekklMxpWQJdbBdl3LORca" data-name="Jonny &amp; the Jazzuits">Jonny &amp; the Jazzuits</a>. Their 1st album <a href="spotify:album:2hADXCd5W5JTSZRWn5UvDg" data-name="Psalms, Hymns &amp; Spiritual Songs">Psalms, Hymns &amp; Spiritual Songs</a> (2015) was nominated for a Zilveren Duif Award. Their latest album <a href="spotify:album:3ql65JQvkBCntnBFSGgzvv" data-name="Songs of Deliverance">Songs of Deliverance</a> was released to a full house at C. in Hoofddorp on 27 October 2023.

In 2019 he restarted <a href="spotify:artist:1ZSThNqQEEXtHY3radGj3z" data-name="Jonny Boston Quartet">Jonny Boston Quartet</a> - a group of the finest jazz musicians in The Netherlands. Expect to see them appearing throughout Europe performing at both traditional and mainstream jazz festivals and clubs.
