Josephien doesn’t believe in musical monogamy. Josephien lives on the rhythm of an irregular beat, bouncing between pop and soul, between R&B and funk. And yet there is a constant throughout Josefien Deloof’s music: regardless of style or form, her voice seems to pierce through bone and marrow.
First she just wrote songs on guitar and her coarse, somewhat husky voice made her get noticed more and more. But it wasn’t until Josephien started surrounding herself with other musicians, that things really started to take off. After just three concerts as full band, Josephien took home the audience award at Humo’s Rock Rally in 2018. This landed her gigs all over Belgium, Germany, France and Holland. Only six months later, she sold out the Minardschouwburg in Ghent.
On the first single, ‘Talk To Me’, Josephien flirts with soul, while also exploring more poppy vibes in her music. It’s her flawless vocals and her nose for catchy melodies, that make her music so compelling and distinctive. “For now, I skip from one thing to another, because I’m still looking for the sound that suits me best.” Josephien wants to try different flavors so that she can bring them all together later.
