Grand Winner of the 2022 Met Laffont Competition, French soprano Julie Roset went on to win Operalia 2023 and was named 'Révélation Lyrique' at the 2025 Victoires de la Musique Classique. Her breakthrough as Zémire (Zémire et Azor) at Opéra Comique earned widespread acclaim, with Le Figaro praising “the young soprano [who] catches the light with her singing, as natural as it is intelligent.”
She made a notable debut at Opéra National de Paris as Amour (Médée) in David McVicar’s new production under William Christie, then joined Raphaël Pichon and Claus Guth for Samson (Rameau) at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Opéra Comique. Other highlights include L’Orfeo (Euridice/La Musica) at Teatro Real Madrid and L’incoronazione di Poppea at Aix, both with Leonardo García Alarcón.
In 2025/26, she makes major debuts: Fiakermilli (Arabella) at the Metropolitan Opera, Sophie (Werther) at Opéra Comique, and Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at Glyndebourne. She also appears as Waldvogel (Siegfried) with the Rotterdam Philharmonic under Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and in Carmina Burana with the Toronto Symphony under Gustavo Gimeno. Her debut recital album M’a dit amour (Alpha Classics), with pianist Susan Manoff, is launched with concerts in Paris, Prague, Nantes, and Barcelona.
Julie Roset studied in Avignon, graduated with honors from the Haute École de Musique de Genève in 2019, and earned her artist diploma from Juilliard in 2022.
She co-founded the ensemble La Néréide.
