Justice System's brand of up-tempo jazz-rap is especially fresh and invigorating since it's the creation of a real band, similar to the Roots. Members play guitar, bass, tenor sax, Rhodes piano, and drums. Their debut album, Rooftop Soundcheck, appeared in 1994 on MCA. Despite good word of mouth and constant live shows, they asked for their release at the end of 1996. The group returned eight years later with Uncharted Terrain, on Ill River Muzic and then Mobilization on Ill RiverMuzic /Handcuts in 2003. Other singles have been featured on BBE Records and Handcuts/Universal in Japan. The band released a new EP, Basement Tapes, in 2018 and during the Covid Pandemic, members worked on the Quantum Field Crew (QFC) EP. Justice System is slated to release 3 additional projects this year (2024) including the mixtape, an alternative Jazz album and a Jazz inspired album....so stay tuned. ~
