Raw Poetic originally began recording with his group Restoring Poetry in Music in 2004. Later that same year, he formed a group with friend and producer K-Murdock to form the group Panacea. After 5 albums, he branched out with a solo career and recorded with the likes of Damu The Fudgemunk, K-Def, and Kev Brown, all under Redefinition Records. He has since released 5 solo albums where he has played every instrument on each album.
A recent highlight has been an album with his uncle, Mr Archie Shepp, and Damu, named Ocean Bridges.
In early 2022 he released an album with London based label Def Pressé named, Laminated Skies. This album has the same back line up as Ocean Bridges, including Damu The Fudgemunk on the boards.
April 2023 saw Raw Poetic, Pat and Damu perform to a sold out Jazz Cafe (London) followed by an appearance on Gilles Peterson's BBC 6 Music show.
