Long-running Danish rock band Kandis (Candy) make catchy, upbeat, and often storytelling pop songs. They have steadily released new music for decades, scoring multiple number ones with work such as their 2008 full-length Kandis 12, and continuing well into the years that followed with albums like 2020's Kandis 20: Fisseminister Blomkål and 2023's Kandis 22. They also released several live works, such as 2024's 35 Års Jubilæumskoncert: Live in Concert.

Kandis was formed in 1985 as a duo by founding members Jens Erik Jensen and Torben Andersen, and soon took on more members to record their work. The first to sign on, Johnny Hansen, took lead vocal and guitar duties, and was soon followed by Jørgen Hein Jørgensen on bass. Eventually Andersen called it a day, and in 2004 drummer Michael Krätz officially joined to take said duties. Prolific from the start, Kandis released self-titled, numbered albums at a near-annual rate, hitting Denmark's number one spot with 2008's Kandis 12, 2011's Kandis 14, and 2014's Kandis 16, not to mention regularly charting in the Top Ten. Hansen pursued a solo career while maintaining his duties in Kandis, and the band continued to grow in terms of success and audience size as they soldiered into the 2020s with albums like 2020's Kandis 20: Fisseminister Blomkål, 2021's Kandis 21, and 2023's Kandis 22. ~ Chris True
