KATZ are a lo-fi indie trio hailing from Manchester, UK. Made up of Ben Williams on vocals and rhythm guitar, James Bradbury on lead guitar and Paddy Murphy on drums. KATZ’s music is a marriage of new and old. The group fuse their love for classic rock and roll and surf music with a 21st century DIY attitude, creating a seamless blend of fuzzy, reverb-soaked garage rock. From the inception of the band, KATZ have always retained a passion for doing things on their own terms and their music and ethos thoroughly reflects this. With their simple twin guitar melodies, lack of bass, and washed out 4 track recording format, KATZ also appear to wholeheartedly embrace the limitations of their music, choosing not to paper over the cracks of their minimalist setup. The result of this? Short, sharp, energetic guitar pop that never appears to outstay its welcome. Whilst undeniably still in their infancy, KATZ stand miles apart from their Mancunian contemporaries, proudly championing the DIY spirit and navigating their own exciting, self-aware and at times, vulnerable path through the saturated lo-fi indie scene.
