Kero Uno is a musician from California’s Bay Area who fell in love with hiphop, vintage jazz, soul, and electronic from a young age. Formerly known as Kero One for most of his career, he built a reputation as a triple-threat rapper, producer, and DJ, known for reviving the jazz hip-hop and lo-fi sound when very few were doing it.

In 2003, Kero released his self-produced single “Check the Blueprints,” which quickly gained underground popularity in Japan and even caught the attention of the then little-known Nujabes. Over the years, he’s received cosigns from legends like Stevie Wonder and produced a #1 hit in Korea for major K-pop artists — all while staying independent, underground, and true to his jazzy, vibey sound.

In 2015, Kero Uno shifted focus fully to production, releasing his debut producer album Reflection Eternal (watch the making-of on YouTube). The project fused his love of vintage textures with modern soundscapes and catchy vocals. As always, Kero brought in his skills on keys, bass, and percussion, layering them with vintage drum breaks and thoughtful arrangements — this time featuring a range of guest vocalists. The album earned spots on Reddit’s Best of 2015 list, appeared on TV shows, and even landed in the playlist of BTS’s V.

In 2024, after a long delay due to the global pandemic, Kero released his long-awaited follow-up album Fuzzy Logic.
