Philadelphia emo quartet Kid Dynamite was formed in 1997 by ex-Lifetime guitarist Dan Yemin, who recruited bassist Steve Ferrel and drummer/fellow Lifetime co-founder David Wagenschutz for regular practice sessions which in time yielded a vocal-free demo cassette. With the addition of singer Jason Shevchuk, the group played their first live dates, and upon completing the demo signed to Jade Tree to issue their self-titled debut LP in 1998. Ferrel soon left Kid Dynamite, and with new bassist Michael Cotterman the quartet completed its sophomore album Shorter, Louder, Faster. Prior to the record's release, however, Shevchuk quit the band, and after playing a farewell show on February 19, 2000, Kid Dynamite dissolved. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
