At the forefront of the UK Ska-Punk scene, London’s King Prawn built a reputation as one of the wildest and most innovative live bands on the circuit. Their infectious blend of Punk, Ska, Ragga & Hip Hop earned them two Kerrang! Award nominations and a lasting fanbase.
Formed in 1993 the band toured extensively, released 4 critically acclaimed albums then decided to quit in 2003 at the peak of their success with a final sold-out show at London’s Forum. Singer Al Rumjen joined Asian Dub Foundation, featured on two ADF albums and fronted the band world-wide.
After a 10 year break King Prawn reformed to reclaim their crown. Expanding the line up with brass section and keyboards, they played festivals and clubs throughout the UK and Belgium and were received as returning Dons of the Ska-Punk community. They released their 5th studio album ‘The Fabulous New Sounds Of…’ and a follow up ep, ‘Rockas an’ Dem’.
In 2023 the band returned with Tim Macdonald (Capdown) replacing Nikolai Jones on Drums. They played festivals and a sell-out UK tour, their first shows since before the pandemic.
King Prawn recorded 4 new songs in 2025, a fierce return to their punk-rock roots, soon to be released, with a new album and live shows planned for 2026.
