Kirk Trevor is a British conductor. He started conducting when he was eight, and gave his first concert at 12. As a student at the Guildhall School of Music, he graduated cum laude in cello performance and conducting, and continued to study cello with <a href="spotify:artist:0KFS74u9OFu7tDyCajs9cF">Paul Tortelier</a> and conducting with <a href="spotify:artist:3YjLvhwK5zw7N5S5oX0DVl">Sir Adrian Boult</a>. A Fulbright exchange grant enabled him to come to the United States in 1975 to study cello at the North Carolina School of the Arts at Winston-Salem. In 1982, he was named by <a href="spotify:artist:7i9jFBWRCyfitbli34TKlt">Eduardo Mata</a> as resident conductor of the <a href="spotify:artist:30ywQdA4ElkX92wuEe9YdP">Dallas Symphony Orchestra</a>. Trevor also served as the music director of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. He won the Leonard Bernstein Conducting Competition in 1990, and pursued his second career as a music educator, founding the International Workshop for Conductors. From 1995 to 2000, he served as music director of the <a href="spotify:artist:1ROkWMQcgFsVqYHTFMdTWN">Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra</a> in the Czech Republic, and from 2002 to 2005, he was the principal guest conductor of the <a href="spotify:artist:428GNN7qZnTsMaK3SfPo6D">Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra</a>. In 2000, Trevor became the music director of the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, and established the Missouri Symphony Conservatory in 2007 to educate young musicians in a variety of disciplines. Trevor has released over 100 CDs, recording for <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22MMC+Recordings%22">MMC Recordings</a>, <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Navona+Records%22">Navona Records</a>, <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22MSR+Classics%22">MSR Classics</a>, and <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Naxos%22">Naxos</a>, among others.
