In 2018, at just 16 years old, Køkø released his debut single Dragun, without a major label backing or experience in the music industry. Despite these limitations, he amassed an unbelievable number of streams for a newcomer. His talent was apparent and a building block for a follow-up single that garnered the attention of Buju who decided to lend a hand in form of a verse on the remix to the single titled Luv Badgals. Others, including Good Enough?, enriched him with the confidence he needed to delve deeper, and finally, last year, his run so far culminated into his five-track debut project, Akira, released 2021.

The stories told on the impassioned EP speak to Køkø’s flair for romantic expressions and they are relayed charmingly over catchy melodies, some of which induce body movement, others, provocative thoughts.
Køkø cements his place on the list of musicians to watch out for all the while, attempting to get his listeners in their feelings.~Ademola Onabanjo
