Karam Khalaf, known by Kokym, was born and raised in occupied Palestine. Started making music at the age of 13 after self teaching himself on keyboard and fell in love with song writing and creating stories inspired by his own life under occupation. In 2015, karam went to Istanbul where he had the chance to study Arabic music and singing at the Arab Music Institute of Istanbul managed and taught by the Syrian musician Maher Na’ana’a. In 2018, after finishing one year at the Music school, karam found his way in music by creating a new fresh sound in Palestinian music called “Fallahi Pop”, which is a sound that mixes modern music arrangements with traditional Palestinian melodic techniques performed in a pure Palestinian rural accent. He released his first single with the new sound in April of 2018 called @Qarraret A7ebak Netfi by uploading it to Soundcloud. It was an instant rise for his new sound and received rave reviews from listeners. In July of 2019, Kokym dropped his first EP called “Kufur El Tuffah”. In June 2021, after going through the 2021 war in Palestine, kokym released his own version of Zaffit El Tahrer as a tribute to his homeland. The track was an immediate huge success in Palestinian communities all around the world and it kickstarted Kokym’s music career as a professional artist. In September of 2022, 10/10 was released and became his signature hit and went viral on Tiktok. In March 1 2024, Kokym released his second EP Bayaan Estinkari as a protest album.
