German percussionist <a href="spotify:artist:6fIpQUsK4DNUgB7G4T9gvV">Klaus Dinger</a> formed La Dusseldorf following the breakup of cyber-rock band, <a href="spotify:artist:2CqEOngQOOMstJupNn6Hmf">Neu!</a>, in 1975. Applying a punk-inspired "less is more" drive to <a href="spotify:artist:2CqEOngQOOMstJupNn6Hmf">Neu!</a>'s minimalist pop-meets-German experimentalism, La Dusseldorf rose to the heights of Europe's progressive rock scene of the late 1970s. Sales of their three albums -- La Dusseldorf in 1976, Viva in 1978, and Individuellos in 1981 -- totalled more than a million copies. They released a European hit single, "Silver Cloud," in 1976.
