Lamont Dozier, Jr is a singer, songwriter, and producer that hails from Detroit, Michigan. He began his start in music first in church, then performing live in the clubs and theaters of Detroit , Atlanta, and Los Angeles. Lamont can also be heard as a session artist on musics projects by Dave Koz, Rick Braun, Stan Sargeant, and David Garfield.
Now Lamont begins his journey as a solo recording artist on the much anticipated forthcoming EP, aptly titled, “ Introducing Lamont Dozier, Jr.” With his music producer Kevin Flournoy, Lamont delivers four songs that are rooted in the rich tradition of R&B and Soul.
Lamont’s goal to keep Soul music viable and relevant is prevalent in his singing and songwriting, as he seeks to gain his audience and fans of the genre to his style and artistry.
Lamont comes from a rich legacy of music. His father, Lamont Dozier, legendary songwriter and one third of the legendary Holland/Dozier/Holland songwriting team, sang on the first version in 1972 R&B Classic, “Why Can’t We Be Lovers”. Lamont Dozier, Jr covers his Dad’s work with a 2020 updated version with a fresh arrangement and vocal delivery.
Lamont also showcases his skills as a singer/songwriter on the tune, “ I’m Gonna Take My Time”.
