Impromp2 are a smooth jazz and hip-hop duo featuring trumpeter/vocalist <a href="spotify:artist:1rF5BAPcmKme8SqcWoWu5F">Johnny Britt</a> and rapper Sean E. Mac. Formed in Los Angeles in 1993, Impromp2 came together after <a href="spotify:artist:1rF5BAPcmKme8SqcWoWu5F">Britt</a> auditioned for, but was ultimately not chosen to join, <a href="spotify:artist:47zz7sob9NUcODy0BTDvKx">Sade</a> on her Love Deluxe World Tour. Undeterred, <a href="spotify:artist:1rF5BAPcmKme8SqcWoWu5F">Britt</a>, who had previously studied music in Paris and spent three years as musical director with <a href="spotify:artist:3RwQ26hR2tJtA8F9p2n7jG">the Temptations</a>, quickly formulated his own band concept. Taking inspiration from <a href="spotify:artist:47zz7sob9NUcODy0BTDvKx">Sade</a>'s smooth R&B style, as well as trumpeter <a href="spotify:artist:0kbYTNQb4Pb1rPbbaF0pT4">Miles Davis</a>' 1992 hip-hop jazz album Doo-Bop, <a href="spotify:artist:1rF5BAPcmKme8SqcWoWu5F">Britt</a> began auditioning rappers for a project that would combine his own soulful vocals and trumpet playing with a hip-hop vibe. <a href="spotify:artist:1rF5BAPcmKme8SqcWoWu5F">Britt</a> eventually chose Los Angeles rapper Sean E. Mac and Impromp2 was born. The duo released their debut album, You're Gonna Love It, on the <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Motown%22">Motown</a> subsidiary <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Mo+Jazz%22">Mo Jazz</a> in 1995. Two years later, they returned with Can't Get Enough. In 2003, Impromp2 moved to <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Big3+Records%22">Big3 Records</a> for their third full-length album, Definition of Love. The group's fourth studio effort, It Is What It Is, appeared on Orpheus/JCS Records in 2008.
