Laura Dre’s sultry and enchanting electronic and contemporary indie pop, breathes new life into the ever popular and evolving synth and new retro wave scene, but perhaps more so into modern indietronica itself. CLASH Magazine wrote of her debut Moving Spaces released 2021 “This electronic dazzler is a clinical mixture of synth wave and electronic pop, her sound structures call to mind the Drive soundtrack in their cinematic tendencies…”
Laura’s expansive contralto vocal range is reminiscent of <a href="spotify:artist:6ou8CS7utk8O82lxmyJW4D" data-name="Shirley Manson">Shirley Manson</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:12VaqyEhgwDRuFfEqbnrpz" data-name="PJ Harvey">PJ Harvey</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0s0rOb0gT2S9N0SDcjtPC4" data-name="Alison Moyet">Alison Moyet</a>, while her song craft and production remain contemporary with the likes of the current crop of 80s-influenced synth pop like <a href="spotify:artist:1Xyo4u8uXC1ZmMpatF05PJ" data-name="The Weeknd">The Weeknd</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0Dy94lW3txJhWQHqNXP1BT" data-name="Laura Mvula">Laura Mvula</a>. Influences of Japanese City Pop and chill are never far as can be heard on her sophomore concept album ‘Kyoto Dreams’.
Under her Vinyl Black Stilettos moniker, songs like “The Game” was featured on BBC3’s serial drama “Lip Service” and “Electrical” gained interest from RSA Films, who produced the music video.
