Lee Gamble is an artist, electronic music composer, label owner and DJ. Over the last several years Lee has released a string of critically acclaimed records on seminal electronic music labels PAN and Hyperdub, creating his own UIQ imprint in 2015. His work incorporates several interlocking themes of hallucination, nostalgia and memory, noise, hyperreality and the imaginary, social realism, the sound objects of musique concrète and the ever mutating hardcore continuum. His DJ sets have been aptly described as "nothing short of an outrageous rollercoaster through genre & tempo, sub-destroying bass & grime, plenty of breaks and a hefty dose of freaky techno, while always remaining highly danceable and exceptionally fun"
His work intersects with installation, performance, written text, technology, sound design and music. His writing was recently published in the book Undead (Urbanomic) and his essay on the voice and it’s synthetic simulations ‘Dual Space’ was published via Shelter press in 2023.
He has presented work internationally.
His latest album Models, deals with mimicry and simulation. Models works with a set of simulated voices singing in an almost wordless language, both AI-generated and synthetic - widescreen memories that reverberate across the last few decades of pop history, collaborating with Spanish choreographer/action artist Candela Capitán to bring his new album Models to the stage most recently at London's Barbican Centre.
