Korean pop group Lightsum is known for their frothy, upbeat brand of dance-oriented pop. They debuted in 2021 with their single "Vanilla" before releasing the 2022 EP Into the Light.
Formed by Seoul's <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Cube+Entertainment%22">Cube Entertainment</a> in 2021, Lightsum is an eight-member group featuring leader/main vocalist Juhyeon, lead dancer/rapper Sangah, main vocalist Chowon, main vocalist/lead dancer Nayoung, sub-vocalist Hina, sub-vocalist Yujeong, sub-vocalist Huiyeon, and sub-vocalist/rapper/maknae Jian. Prior to joining, Juhyeon had finished in 25th place in 2017's The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project and competed in 2018's Dancing High. Similarly, Chowon, Nayoung, and Yujeong had all participated in the Produce 48 reality competition in 2018. The group made their debut in June 2021 single "Vanilla," hitting number 12 in Korea. A second singles collection, Light a Wish, arrived that October and featured the song "Vivace." It reached number seven on the Gaon Chart. In May 2022, Lightsum released their first proper EP, Into the Light. Buoyed by the lead single "Alive," it hit number 13 in Korea. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
