A native of Canada, Lisa Dal Bello began singing professionally at the age of 13. Exposure from commercials and CBC-TV's Music Machine gained her a contract with MCA and a self-titled debut album in 1977. By the following year, she was with Capitol, which released Pretty Girls in 1978 and Drastic Measures in 1981. After a three-year break to work on her poetry, Mick Ronson convinced her to resume recording. Whomanfoursays appeared in 1984. Another long break followed, in which she wrote the lyrics for Nena's "99 Red Balloons" and worked on the soundtrack for 9½ Weeks (1986). Her fifth album, She, appeared in 1989. ~ John Bush, Rovi
