Lisa Meri is a musician, songwriter, and composer who hails from New York City. She was born into a musical family and exposed to all kinds of music (pop, jazz, latin) at a young age by her dad, a working drummer.
Lisa expressed an interest in writing music when she turned twelve and started taking guitar lessons with the late Jack Hotop Sr, a master guitarist who played on recording dates for the legendary Tony Bennett on Columbia Records.
She got her first Work-For-Hire writing opportunity at seventeen and never looked back. She wrote and performed the theme song for a Manhattan Cable Television Show called “Going Solo” and her fascination with writing for visual media grew.
Lisa immersed herself in her songwriting and composition studies at Berklee College Of Music in Boston. She wrote and co-produced her first commercial recording of original music, a 5 song EP titled “I’m Not Gonna Say I Told You” with producer David Porter (Aerosmith, Letters To Cleo). The EP received a generous amount of airplay on college and commercial radio and her performances in New York and Boston were well-received.
Her songs “Take Me Where You’re Going” and “Another Look” were placed in “11 Minutes Ago”, an award-winning independent feature directed by actor Bob Gebert (“The Office”).
Sony Pictures Television placed Lisa’s song “Deep Blue Ocean” in “Homecoming” (Season 3, Episode 302) of the Television Show “Dawson’s Creek”, currently streaming on Apple TV, Hulu, and Amazon.
