Луговые Мари is a musical project in the mix of ambient, shoegaze, and rock.
The musical group was formed in the Republic of Mari El, Russia. And represents the combined efforts of artists in the popularization and experimental creative revival of Mari culture.
This music is made under the influence of such performers as <a href="spotify:artist:0ZoYAbDGICaSPSfTTvworW" data-name="Tonstartssbandht">Tonstartssbandht</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0pg0Zm8FsGAYy5kdHuBnSo" data-name="salvia palth">salvia palth</a> and the Mari Indigenous culture, which is the basis of the whole project.
The first songs were recorded in 2019 in Medvedevo (Republic of Mari El). These recordings are low-quality live guitar recordings and ghost vocals on top with a lot of reverb.
About the first album called "<a href="spotify:album:4cVSLAgfvhn8vst6YnXcvv" data-name="Тӱня">Тӱня</a>" (World): The ambient of endless expanses from the Lugovye Mari project. The names of the compositions are translated from the Mari language roughly as "a streamlet flows", "the eye rejoices", etc.
"One of us is from Yoshkar-Ola, and I have relatives from there, so this culture and language are very, very close to us. We want to arouse people's interest not only in the Mari, but in general to all cultures of peoples living in Russia, as it is really very interesting. With the demand for the study of cultures, more information will appear in Russian, which will be convenient for studying in the end.
The album was recorded live, at home, it's just an ambient sketch that convey the mood and energy of our landscapes".
