What seemed like the end for the Brooklyn-based band Gingerlys was the fresh start for Lunarette, featuring members Kevin Doxsey, Brian Alvarez, Colin O‘neill, and Jackie Mendoza. They returned to the studio in Queens, New York with Connor Hanwick (prod. Gingerlys LP) to record their new EP, Clair de Lunarette. Diverging from their original sound but not too far, Lunarette makes melancholy pop with lingering polyphonic vocal hooks and drum breaks. Their collage of sound takes influence from a variety of projects including Saint Etienne, Cibo Matto, and The Radio Dept.
