Rockabilly guitarist Mark Gamsjager is the driving force behind the Lustre Kings, the band he formed in the mid-'90s to accompany his performances. Their debut album, 1997's Mark Gamsjager Rocks & Lustre Kings Roll, was popular in roots rock and rockabilly circles, giving Gamsjager the chance to perform with several of his contemporaries.
