Madder Mortem formed in 1993 as Mystery Tribe, and recorded a demo, “Days in Sorrow”, in 1994. Changing the name to Madder Mortem, in 1997 the MCD “Misty Sleep” resulted in a deal with Misanthropy Records, where debut album “Mercury” was released in Feb 1999.
In Dec 1999 the Madders signed with Century Media, releasing 2nd and 3rd albums, “All Flesh is Grass” and “Deadlands” in Oct 2002 and Feb 2001. MM also toured Europe, supporting Tristania, Rotting Christ and Vintersorg in 2001 and Opeth in 2003. 4th album “Desiderata” was released in spring 2006 on Peaceville Records, with a video for “My Name Is Silence”. In spring 2009, “Eight Ways” was released, with a video for “Armour”. Peaceville also re-released “Deadlands”, as well as the “Where Dream And Day Collide” EP and video in May 2010.
After a hiatus, MM signed with Dark Essence Records, releasing “Red in Tooth and Claw” in Oct 2016, and supporting Soen in Europe in 2017. 7th album “Marrow” was released in Sept 2018, with videos for “Far From Home” and “Liberator”.
