In 2019 MAESTRO FRESH WES became the first Hiphop artist inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. Born Wes Williams out of Toronto Canada, he is the first to receive a Juno Award ( Canada’s version of the Grammy Award ) for the success of his 1989 debut album Symphony In Effect. Wes is also the first MC from his country to reach certified gold and platinum status. These accolades and his continued contributions are what helped him earn the title of the godfather of Canadian Hiphop . After over 30 years of music , Wes continues to inspire his city and country.
