‘Makhanj’ born Mbali Kanyisile Makanya is a vocalist and songwriter from
Mthatha, a city in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. She grew up in a number of provinces, due to moving a lot with her family which aided her love for genre blending and ability to collaborate with artists all over the continent.
She’s featured on ‘Possible’ by DBN Gogo, Musa Keys and Dinho as well as on Kelvin Momo’s critically acclaimed albums ‘Kurhula’ and ‘Amukelani’. You’ll find her on ‘Khawleza’, ‘Imikhuleko’ ‘Ikhaya Lam’ and ‘Emaphupeni’ with songstress Babalwa M, to name a few.
She has collaborated with heavyweight producers Kabza De Small, Abidoza, Mdu aka TRP, Khalil Harrison, Gaba Canal, Villosoul and Sfarzo RTee on their hit record ‘Bawo Vula’.
As a songwriter she’s collaborated with a number of artists most notable being Grammy-award winner, Tyla.
She released an RNB offering titled ‘Interludes’ but her most recent body of work is her debut Amapiano EP, ‘Ntyatyambo’ which is out and available on all DSP’s.
