Born in Oxnard, California, and brought up in Bakersfield, Malik Malo was raised amidst rich musical cultures, absorbing the sounds of rancheras, pop, and R&B. With a bi-racial family (African-American and Mexican).
Malik was surrounded by music and recording studios from birth, as his father collaborated with his uncle, who later founded Pocos Pero Locos and Silent Giant Entertainment. From an early age, Malik began recording demos with a childhood friend, a formative experience that helped him develop his unique sound and refine his vocal skills, laying the groundwork for his future in music while also dedicating much of his time to football.
His uncle, producer and industry executive Edward "E-Dub" Rios, recognized Malik’s potential and invited him to work in the studio as a vocalist on songwriter demos. It was in the recording booth that Malik’s ability to interpret songs and his natural charisma came to light. Drawing from influences such as Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye, Malik developed a melodic approach that showcased his unique musical signature.
He has collaborated with artists such as Baby Bash, King Lil G, Joey Quinones, The Notations, Monica Rocha, Beatriz Gonzalez, Trish Toledo, and has garnered millions of streams on his music videos and songs. His music was also featured on Danny Trejo's "Chicano Soul Shop" Vol. 1 compilation. Malik continues to challenge himself to achieve greater success in every aspect of his career.
