Malummí

Malummí’s music casts a spell on you. The trio based in Basel, Switzerland, creates a sound that is fierce and blissful at the same time. In 2021, they released the debut album "Blood", showcasing a blend of their indie, electronica, and folk influences. November 2023 marked the release of their sophomore album, "The Universe Is Black" via Irascible Records. This album presents an eclectic fusion of experimentally grunge-tinged alternative rock, art rock and warm indie folk. Singer and songwriter Larissa Rapold always plays a prominent role with her expressive and distinctive singing and performance. Accompanied by Giovanni Vicari (guitar) and Lucas Zibulski (drums), they create a captivating alternative rock sound reminiscent of Big Thief and PJ Harvey, set to get under your skin. Malummí don’t shy away from critically examining social constructs in a patriarchal, white society. Influenced by Malummí’s experiences, the lyrics explore different forms of relationships: to the self, to others, to society.
"The Universe Is Black" was album of the week on Swiss national radio SRF 3 Sounds! and was featured on the Sound & Vision podcast on American radio station KEXP. The album was also honoured with the Album of the Year Award from IndieSuisse.
The band is currently on a club tour with the new album. In summer 2024, they can be found at various Swiss festivals (PALP Festival, Luzern Live, Summerstage Basel and more).
