Market’s bedroom pop songs are characterised by their lo-fi tape production, awash with soft synths and auto-tuned guitars evoking distant and distorted memories setting a contrast to their rich and present songwriting.


Market, the project of Melbourne-artist Lee Hannah (they/them), is the resulting product of the artists unique history releasing dulcet ambient pop as <a href="spotify:artist:04ymnLlba7GabXvyDEaG01" data-name="The Townhouses">The Townhouses</a>, acting as a session musician for <a href="spotify:artist:0FL2d6iFFNAV3yBUbXjZ1U" data-name="Wafia">Wafia</a>, and producing and performing as one half of house-tinged duo <a href="spotify:artist:0bgJ6B4G6to7Qf7oUVVXpL" data-name="Take Your Time">Take Your Time</a>. While the resulting releases shaping Lee’s past have been varied in sound, they all showcase a low-key yet stylised production and writing style that has seen them supporting live the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:6O4EGCCb6DoIiR6B1QCQgp" data-name="Toro y Moi">Toro y Moi</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2xUsnfrcs3h2FzdRQvGmGM" data-name="Japanese Wallpaper">Japanese Wallpaper</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4VivsO1n4n2Mi2Btyb5gfL" data-name="Cosmo's Midnight">Cosmo's Midnight</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:34vLhockmYhf3LgznwyNaQ" data-name="POLIÇA">POLIÇA</a>.


Market’s upcoming release “2” features a collaboration with <a href="spotify:artist:2rSr4thSNTaCiukqTSJOoz" data-name="POPPONGENE">POPPONGENE</a> and was written and recorded in the iconic Cairo Flats, an Art Deco 1930s residential complex in inner Melbourne, while being deeply locked down during the pandemic - legally unable to leave for more than one hour a day. Despite the grim circumstances, the lightness of the space is reflected on the EP through its use of breezy-jazz chords and cheap bright drum machines. The release follows Market&#39;s debut EP released in 2019 featuring collaborations with <a href="spotify:artist:5Qz11Z21KPHJi3CpxuEmaO" data-name="Tanaya Harper">Tanaya Harper</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:24zYNAaToi5sRUwqAZxx8O" data-name="Lauren Abineri">Lauren Abineri</a> and the singles <a href="spotify:track:7nKhVkVGvMKkbT8rAry4dP" data-name="Circles">Circles</a>, <a href="spotify:track:3F0ACOu8cK3lAGZCsiqIP5" data-name="Fix">Fix</a> and <a href="spotify:track:1204RftK0DjpDYivYlPKmv" data-name="Everytime">Everytime</a>.
