Matthew Kilner is an Aberdonian tenor saxophonist and bandleader currently living in Glasgow. His quartet includes some of the UK’s most in-demand musicians including, Alyn Cosker, Paul Harrison and Ewan Hastie. The band performs all original music that draws on inspiration from Matthew’s hometown of Aberdeen in the North East of Scotland, which is home to stunning coastal environments, rich cultures and an eclectic mix of locals. The music is firmly in the jazz tradition with strong influences being taken from both the American modal jazz movement and European folk-like contemporary jazz, as championed by such musicians as Jan Garbarek, Jakob Bro and Phil Bancroft. Matthew recently recorded his debut album “The Space In Between” which is set to be released on the 7th of March 2025.
