Mattie Safer is a musical icon who gave it up to follow a new sound and vision. The former singer, songwriter, and bass player for The Rapture left the band at the height of their powers in 2009 to write and record music under his own name. Inspired by a working relationship with mega-producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence + The Machine), Safer decided to "stop worrying about being cool" and pursued a sound that could properly display his powerful-yet-smooth vocal prowess and unique, soulful songwriting sensibility.
In 2016 Safer released his debut EP "All We Are" on his own Dream City Sounds label, impressing old fans and winning new fans alike and receiving blog support from Exclaim!, All Access Music, Self-Titled Magazine, You Know I Got Soul, Soultracks and Atwood Magazine.
In Spring of 2017 Mattie featured on two singles--"Whatcha Wanna Do" with Australian producer Beni and "Back To Summertime" with Blende which was named with ‘Tune of the Month’ by Mixmag and featured in Spotify's their ‘Weekly Buzz’ and ‘Friday Cratediggers’ playlists.
Over the summer, Mattie followed up with a new single 'Floating', a brilliant slice of neo-disco sunshiny pop, made with Filip Nikolic (Poolside, Turbotito). The two manage to bring a classic Paradise Garage feel to a modern electronic soundscape. 'Floating' is both timeless and futuristic in its sound and message.
