In addition to his solo efforts—ranging from chiptune soundtracks to ambient escapes &amp; acoustic asides—Matt is a prolific presence within Niagara&#39;s New Alternative Scene, operating the label <a href="spotify:playlist:2Icsmo3FIVAvIeyEHHSezT" data-name="Routine Exploits">Routine Exploits</a> &amp; fronting experimental rock band <a href="spotify:artist:206EqSHjOVm0gQ7Gdbknv5" data-name="Sunshine Express">Sunshine Express</a>.

Matt spent his formative years self-learning guitar, drums, &amp; music production. He recorded two expansive LPs with his first band, <a href="spotify:artist:34NiXQQbI4CTgIkci9XYW2" data-name="WindfallFound">WindfallFound</a>. Though the project received only minor attention, it connected Matt to other local alternative artists like <a href="spotify:artist:1TFv8yaBZxBCAUu7BMSolO" data-name="The Ferns">The Ferns</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1rQDAocsoW3H3PKw0t8kyc" data-name="Dv Klssn">Dv Klssn</a>, &amp; <a href="spotify:artist:4h4zNdPfe28Uk2zIH52AmS" data-name="Ghoul School">Ghoul School</a>. The latter would go on to help start the band <a href="spotify:artist:206EqSHjOVm0gQ7Gdbknv5" data-name="Sunshine Express">Sunshine Express</a>, Matt&#39;s most prolific project to date.

In 2023, Matt released the solo album <a href="spotify:album:06SNXwm52O45CBtpIZnhwx" data-name="S_Ex Demos 1">S_Ex Demos 1</a>, his experimental take on singer-songwriter music. The compilation reduces <a href="spotify:artist:206EqSHjOVm0gQ7Gdbknv5" data-name="Sunshine Express">Sunshine Express</a>&#39; art rock bombast to stripped guitar-and-vocal arrangements. The results—captured live with a single mic—are startlingly intimate &amp; barebones, a nod to minimalist influences like <a href="spotify:artist:0f8MDDzIc6M4uH1xH0o0gy" data-name="Robert Johnson">Robert Johnson</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:459INk8vcC0ebEef82WjIK" data-name="Erik Satie">Erik Satie</a>, &amp; <a href="spotify:artist:4MXUO7sVCaFgFjoTI5ox5c" data-name="Sufjan Stevens">Sufjan Stevens</a>.
