Raised in Blossom, Texas, O'Neal grew up on a steady diet of country radio in the '80s, the sounds of Waylon Jennings, Hank Jr., and Merle Haggard soaking in before he even realized it. Over more than 20 years, he’s released seven studio albums and two live records, building a catalog that reflects the soul and storytelling of his biggest influences: Guy Clark, John Prine, Steve Earle, and Townes Van Zandt. In 2017, he won the Rusty Weir Songwriting Competition, and he’s opened for genre giants like Fred Eaglesmith, Steve Earle, Jason Isbell, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Hayes Carll.
