Born in Berlin but raised in the small town of Bad Salzuflen, she commutes between worlds and discovers treasures such as Joan as Policewoman and Nina Simone in her aunt's CD collection. In 2022 she releases her debut EP “Jaywalker”, with which she was nominated as best newcomer for the PopNRW award. She adapted the famous Cher quote “Mom, I am a rich man” for her artist name.
The solidarity song “Baba Said” went viral during the revolution in Iran, allowing her to combine her music with activism. On her debut album “Grown Up”, which was named Album of the week by DLF Kultur and FluxFM, she confronts growing up. With honesty she returns to her childhood and processes fighting parents, cultural uprooting and her relationship to her body. Musically she has also matured and now presents a sound drawing inspiration from soul, folk and hip-hop that she developed with her band, consisting of Friedrich Schnorr von Carolsfeld (guitar), Alexander Mau (bass) and Leon Brames (drums), in collaboration with producer Tobias Siebert (Juli, Enno Bunger).
She was awarded the 2024 PopNRW prize in the category “Outstanding artist” and is currently working on her new EP set to be released in March 2025.
