Motel Marys - the highly anticipated project relaunch by Liam Demb, Chloe Chrisohoidis, Charles Lim, Dellen Van Ryt and Tobias Bostelman - brings you LOVEHATE,
Relaunching in the tumultuous 2021, the band of best friends entered the new decade with a driving force and spent 22’ as a year of performing and experimentation within their art. Growing with the world around them following their ascent into adulthood, their sound steps into deeper layers with an affinity towards bigger production and a pop funk finish. After the project's sound and lineup evolution, Motel Marys found their thing. The natural metamorphosis of their sound direction over the years has manifested into the lush alt-funk sounds you hear now.
With their natural balance of soft floating vocals and effortlessly cool synths meeting the punch of playful pop-centric guitars and funk-fused bass melody lines, Motel Marys found the equilibrium of heartfelt harmony within dark funk.
Their deep swirly pool of influences from French funk L'imperatrice & pop angels like Djo, MenITrust to alternative moods from Genesis Owusu and Radiohead, has driven them in ambition and inspiration.
The 5 friends cap 2022 with the first release under their new direction - LOVEHATE - The dynamic funk-infused track with a sonic journey that flows through bright shining retro synth tones to dirty guitar leads and cool collected vocals.
It's mere beginning, with 2023 to be their biggest year yet of releases, festivals and more.
