Motor Sales is the brainchild of long term friends and collaborators Pete Harper & J.Blynn. Starting as a side-pet-project from their longtime band Harper Bynn, the pair recorded an EP of all new material with friend Shawn Everett (The War on Drugs, Alabama Shakes, Perfume Genius), which was subsequently lost in a power surge at a New York recording studio. So the three went back to work, now with more songs and ideas, and recorded a full album. The project quickly became the pair's main focus, and Motor Sales was born. Informed by the city in which it was written and recorded, this eponymous debut is a response to the sometimes dystopian future-present landscape of Los Angeles, melding classic 70's riffs and song structures with 2019 perspective. Think laurel canyon meets DTLA, palm tress and high-rises - a portrait of the city's renaissance with one eye on it's past and the other on the emergency exit.
