Formed in October 2023, Mourning After is a rising force in the Texas rock scene, blending the raw emotion of grunge with the high-energy flair of classic and ‘80s rock. Born from the vision of Texas A&M University senior Zoey Frederick (Rhythm Guitar & Vocals 2), the band began as a creative outlet for songwriting. It quickly evolved into a dynamic five-piece ensemble with a shared passion for genre-defying music.
Joined by the powerhouse lineup of Syd Pospech (Drums), Ethan Peschel (Lead Guitar), Rowan Templeton (Bass Guitar), and Taydem Ligon (Lead Vocals), Mourning After crafts a sound that is as nostalgic as it is fresh. Their influences are unmistakable—pulling from the gritty soul of Seattle ‘90s grunge, the anthemic power of ‘70s and ‘80s American rock, and the timeless melodies of classic rock legends. Yet, the band’s true identity lies in their ability to merge these eras with contemporary edge and lyrical depth.
With a strong emphasis on melodic songwriting, evocative lyrics, and emotionally charged performances, Mourning After creates music that resonates across audiences. Their live shows are an invitation to feel: whether you're dancing in the front row, singing along until your voice gives out, caught in the chaos of a mosh pit, or simply swaying to the rhythm, there’s a place for you in the world of Mourning After.
