The first lineup of sophisticated funk/soul band Mystic Merlin featured Jerry Anderson (guitar), Betty Brown (vocals), Clyde Bullard (bass), Leslie Dorsey (keyboards, vocals), Keith Gonzalez (vocals), Sly Randolph (drums), and Barry Strutt (saxophone, keyboards). The band, known for flashy stage performances that incorporated various acts of magic, released three albums for Capitol from 1980 through 1982: Mystic Merlin (led by the U.K. Top 20 single "Just Can't Give You Up"), Sixty Thrills a Minute, and Full Moon (featuring vocals from a pre-stardom Freddie Jackson). In 2012, all three albums were remastered and expanded by the U.K.'s BBR label. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
