As both an artist and a citizen of the world, Nadia’s existence is multifaceted. They embody numerous roles as a creator, including: poet, performer, singer, songwriter, film producer, video director, painter and art director. Tehran outputs not only through their music, but through every fibre of their being. You can see it in the details of their largely self-produced videos – the ornate set design, their hand-woven hair, self make-up virtuosity, and deconstructed handmade wardrobe. From vintage punk to haute glam, to reinterpreted traditional Persian textiles, for Nadia, documentary and editorial are the same thing – all of it is the real them.
Tehran’s debut LP, Dozakh: All Lovers Hell, a culmination of ten years of work, was released in 2019 on YEAR0001. The album was met with critical acclaim from NPR, Vogue, The Face, Complex, Pitchfork and Document Journal. Now based in Copenhagen, Tehran presents the expanded edition, a reimagining of their debut with new videos, remixes and demos, showcasing a variety of collaborations with members of Nadia’s inner creative circle, many of whom are also first generation Scandinavian and European immigrants.
