Nariaki is a Japanese soul singer known for his emotionally rich voice, poetic songwriting, and genre- blending production. A rising force in Japan’s contemporary music scene, he made his major-label debut with “Lonely One” (2018), a collaboration with Hikaru Utada, one of Japan’s all-time best-selling artists.
From 2019 to 2024, Nariaki lived in London, absorbing the city’s underground groove culture and collaborating with international artists such as Jitwam and Dreamcastmoe (Strides Remixes, 2022). His fourth album, Zatto (2025), recorded primarily in London, features Rosetta Carr (bassist for
Sampha) and Ayo Salawu (drummer of Kokoroko), and was mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Russell Elevado. Hailed as a landmark in modern Japanese soul, the album drew over 6,000 attendees during its national tour. Now based between Tokyo and London, Nariaki continues to expand his global reach. He will perform at Blue Note Tokyo in December 2025 and is currently working on new material for international release.
