As founding member of the contemporary jazz quartet Fourplay alongside Bob James, Lee Ritenour and Harvey Mason—East has cemented his place in music history.
His extraordinary career includes collaborations with music legends Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, George Harrison, Ringo, Anita Baker, Quincy Jones, Beyoncé, Shania Twain, Elton John, Babyface and Daft Punk, with his iconic bass line driving the global hit “Get Lucky.” East also co-wrote the classic hit “Easy Lover” with Phil Collins and Philip Bailey, earning him Britain’s prestigious Ivor Novello Award.
In 2014, East released his debut solo album which hit #1 on the Billboard Jazz Charts earning a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. His album (Reverence) also topped Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz charts featuring collaborations with Chick Corea, Hubert Laws, Earth, Wind & Fire, Yolanda Adams, Eric Clapton & Phil Collins.
A graduate of UC San Diego with a BA in Music, East was honored by the U.S. Congress with a Congressional Record for his contributions to the global music community. Currently, he’s working on new music with his son, Noah East, as part of a special Father-Son collaboration.
