Since forming in 2016 and playing Glastonbury 2017, London’s Near Death Experience (NDX for short) have gained a reputation for powerful, emotive live performances and a funky “shimmering psyche-tinged rock'n' soul" sound.
The Last Summer EP was launched in 2017, with the title track Summer played by BBC Introducing. NDX spent 2018 working on their first album Mouth to Mouth, released in July 2019, pre-empting their opening slot at the Ealing Blues Festival.
A trio of singles were recorded and released during the pandemic – Conquer, Moves and Everything – all receiving rave reviews from underground bloggers and lots of indie radio play. With the UK lockdown lifted in July 2021, NDX dived back onto the London live circuit kicking off their New Summer of Love tour which morphed into the Winter of Love tour.
The band released two more singles - the bass groove-driven Underground and soaring Lightning - and continued wowing audiences with their live shows, including Glastonbury 50!
Their second album ‘The Release’ launched in Autumn 2023, a beautiful collision of rock, soul and funk, followed by brand new material in 2024: the thrilling, infectious 'Soul'; funky, mesmerising ‘Trance’ and the soulful, grooving ‘Thousands’ EP. The year ended with the release of groove-driven, hook-laden ‘Present’.
'Shake’ further dialled up the funk and soul in early 2025, which also saw NDX becoming Anglo/Brazilian/Japanese following an exciting global line-up refresh.
