Peace Love War & Hate, out now, is the second solo album from Toronto-based singer/songwriter/guitarist Steve Mahabir.
The album is a bold unfiltered look at the beauty & brutality of the human experience. The album explores themes of love, loss, conflict, resilience, displacement, obsession, and redemption. From intimate emotional battles to global ones, the record reflects both the personal and the political, the internal wars and the ones raging across the world.
Mahabir writes with a storyteller’s eye and a humanitarians heart.
Mahabir is joined by three other veterans of the Toronto music scene: John Borra (bass) and Blue Rodeo’s Michael Boguski (keyboards) and Glenn Milchem (drums).
Peace Love War & Hate was the last album recorded and produced by Grammy award winner Peter J. Moore, who passed away in 2023, at his Concord Sound Studio(The ‘E’Room).Further recording and engineering were done by George Guerra, with additional production by legendary producer Terry Brown ( Rush,The Who, Donovan).
The Juno nominee co-founded the seminal Canadian alt-rock band Groovy Religion in the 1980s and recorded three albums with the group. He also played with Scott B. Sympathy, Parts Found in Sea and Ministry of Love before putting music on the back burner. He returned in 2015 with his debut solo album, Angel In Parkdale, which spawned three singles, videos, and many positive reviews.
