NEL BUIO (“in the darkness”) was founded in autumn 2023 by Clod the Ripper (Blasphemer, Septycal Gorge), merging Black/Death Metal with 1980s Darkwave into a unique Italian BlackWave. Joined by Neil (Electrocution) and Vellacifer (Blasphemer, Electrocution), the trio wrote their debut EP in three days. Released on 21 June 2024 via Avantgarde Music (LP/CD/tape/digital), it explores alienation and psychological depth from a female perspective, closing with “Mi Avvelena,” a reinterpretation of Twin Tribes’ “Monolith.” The video for “Nel Buio” by Chariot Of Black Moth premiered on Black Metal Promotion. The EP sold out and was reissued in June 2025 with new artwork and a video for “Sola.” Dancer Telly Lale, initially hired for the debut show, became a live member and keyboardist. The debut album—written in summer 2024, recorded in 2025—centers on toxic love, violence, and death; the track “Oramai…” is by Finnish composer Ville Pallonen (Vargrav). Released on 5 December 2025, it was preceded by four singles (each with a band member on the cover) and issued in a silkscreened plexiglass box set (100 hand-numbered copies) with unreleased material and signed explicit Polaroids of Telly Lale. Since June 2024, NEL BUIO has played across Italy and abroad (Inferno Festival, Austria, Portugal, Malta), sharing stages with Marduk, Necrophobic, Kampfar, Tsjuder, 1349, Necrodeath, Hulder, and Lifelover. The debut album will be performed in full at Blackwinter Fest, Milan, on 13 December.
