Nemra is an Armenian rock band formed in 2012 in Yerevan. The group features lead vocalist and main songwriter Van Yeghiazaryan on guitar, Vaspur Yeghiazaryan on bass (songwriter), Marianna Karakeyan on keyboards (songwriter), and Marek Zaborski on drums. Their music blends alternative and indie rock with a distinctive reinterpretation of traditional Armenian folk songs.
In 2024, Nemra collaborated with Serj Tankian, the frontman of System of a Down, on their song “I’m Afraid of Stars.”
In 2025, Nemra received the Best Rock Band award at the Khazer Armenian Music Awards.
Previously, in 2018, they won Best Rock Band of the Year at the Armenian Music Awards.
The band’s name, Nemra, is a play on the word Armen (Armenian) and reflects their love of viewing things from different perspectives.
To date, they have released three English-language studio albums—“Mubla,” “Hmm,” “The End of the Party,” and The Armenian EP—along with multiple singles and music videos.
In 2022, the band performed at the Starmus Festival, sharing the stage with legendary guitarist Brian May, who gifted Van his six-pence guitar pick as a good-luck charm for the band’s future.
Nemra’s live performances are known for their exceptional energy and vibrancy. During their concerts, the synergy between the band and the audience is remarkable: fans become fully engaged in an ongoing, electrifying sing-along experience.
