At just 20 years old, Royce City, Texas native Nevi has already been releasing music for five years. As he enters 2025, he embarks on the solidified direction that his musical journey has taken him. The release of the Indie/Alternative/Folk influenced "The Boy Who Left" brings us an autobiographical take on leaving his small Texas town for Los Angeles in an instantly catchy and infectious way, firmly planting the flag of what to expect from his upcoming album.
"The Boy Who Left" is a song that I wrote two years ago on a flight back to LA from home. In Texas, I was inspired by conversations with my family and friends about being the “one who made it out," Nevi explains. I wanted to convey the pressure I feel, whether they are expectations from those around me or ones I set for myself. The music itself was inspired by my dad’s influential taste, reminding me of what I listened to growing up and how connected I am to my home."
Naming Wilco, Brent Cobb, Joan Sebastian, Waylon Jennings, Bob Dylan and Jason Isbell as key influences, the follow up single "Mind Of Mine" continues down the road of "The Boy Who Left", setting the table for a full length release in the Fall of 2025.
"I'm really enjoying the new direction I’m heading, a folk style infused with regional Mexican and alternative country music. It feels natural, meaningful, and I hope that those who have been on this journey with me stick around and enjoy the music," says Nevi.
