Over the past few years, French clarinetist Nicolas Baldeyrou has naturally established himself as one of the most remarkable soloists of his generation. A “concert artist armed for any challenge” (Diapason), he navigates with ease through all repertoires on both historical and modern instruments.
Winning prestigious competitions such as the Munich ARD, Dos Hermanas, and ICA Young Artist opened the doors of the world’s greatest concert halls—Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Philharmonie de Paris, Salzburg Mozarteum, Wiener Konzerthaus, and more. As a soloist, he performs with leading orchestras: Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Czech Philharmonic, and Sinfonia Varsovia, collaborating with conductors such as Myung-Whun Chung, Alain Altinoglu, and Mikko Franck.
A sought-after chamber musician, he has shared the stage with Bertrand Chamayou, Nikolai Lugansky, Renaud Capuçon, and the Modigliani, Ébène, and Chiaroscuro quartets. His passion for historical instruments led him to perform with Les Musiciens du Louvre and Le Concert de la Loge. Under a five-year contract with Alpha Classics, he is recording Mozart’s complete works for clarinet on period instruments.
Professor at CNSM Lyon since 2007 and visiting professor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Nicolas is also an ambassador for Buffet Crampon and Vandoren.
