PAPA is the project of singing drummer Darren Weiss, one of LA’s music staples. Once referred to as “Joe Strummer and the E Street Band,” PAPA blends the urgency and passion of their early punk influences with a classic sense of songwriting that makes their music feel fresh, vital, and somehow like it’s always been there.
PAPA released an ep titled, A Good Woman Is Hard To Find in 2011, and three lps - Tender Madness in 2013, Kick At The Dust 2016, and 2023’s Dig Yourself Or Dig A Hope to much acclaim.
Since PAPA’s last release, Weiss has been busy as a touring and session drummer with the likes of Lana Del Rey, Sky Ferreira, Albert Hammond Jr, and Perfume Genius, but it is clear from PAPA’s latest release, Weiss has so much more to say
